Last post: a pair of 1987 Vulcans.
This post: a pair of 1987 Ninjas.
First we have the 1987 ZX600-A3 600R Ninja. This is the standard model, not said to be a limited edition but how many in this paint scheme have you actually seen? We never had many to sell. I suspect since this was the final year for the "A" model they produced a lot less than they had for 1986. This is my favorite paint on an "A" model.
Curiously the back of this brochure lists a 'white' color option that is not shown. If I had ever seen the white variety in person I could not remember what it looked like. Here is the best picture I could find on the interwebs. It was from a European website so it is labeled as a "GPZ" not a Ninja. It looks like a scan of a magazine but it is all we got for now.
Next up is the Limited Edition 1987 ZX600-B1 600RX Ninja. Production of 1000 units with an aluminum frame. Limited to 1000 as stated a couple times in the brochure. We were told at the time that since there were approximately a thousand Kawasaki dealers in the USA that this model was basically one per dealer. We were told the same story the next year regarding the 1988 ZX-10 (future post).
In my opinion 1987 was a great year for 600 Ninjas at least as far as visual design goes--all three looked great.
Thanks for looking. Gary / kawasaki-yama-zuki
Bonus/update:
Found a picture of the ZX600-B1 poster Kawasaki created as a promotion. If I recall correctly we had a package of 50 or 100 of these around the same time that the bike was on the showroom floor. I had photo'd this and then sold it on eBay. Judging by the items in the picture the poster measured approx 18" high by 20" wide.
